The Maintenance Technician will support the objectives of production through the Maintenance function by the implementation of assigned tasks, supplying continuity between engineering and managerial functions. Maintains (through preventative maintenance) repairs and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical systems for production equipment. Replaces all equipment necessary in the production floor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on UTECO Printing Presses, motors, pneumatics, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, forklifts, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments with appropriate tools.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers and management of routine preventive maintenance techniques, and schedules as needed.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports: collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information & trends.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Adheres to all Company safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Works scheduled hours with predictable and reliable attendance
  • Performs various special projects and other duties as assigned Job Qualifications Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years maintenance experience on press equipment in the printing industry
  • Ability to follow Wiring Schematics and diagnose control circuitry
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, instrumentation, and other electronics
  • PC literacy and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read, understand and speak English Preferred

The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, or kneeling. The noise level is moderate to high, and PPE is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and extreme heat; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be available 24 hours a day for plant or equipment emergencies.
