Position Summary The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs throughout hotel guest rooms and designated areas to ensure all facilities are safe, fully operational, well-maintained, and guest-ready. This is a highly visible position with frequent guest interaction. The General Maintenance Technician must consistently demonstrate professionalism, reliability, strong communication skills, and exceptional customer service while responding to maintenance requests and addressing guest concerns. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance inspections of hotel guest rooms on a rotating basis. Conduct daily walkthroughs of designated areas and complete required maintenance checklists. Ensure all items and equipment within guest rooms are fully operational prior to guest check-in.
Inspect and verify that:
Electrical outlets are functioning properly. All lighting fixtures have working bulbs. Televisions and remote controls are operational. Toilets, faucets, and shower fixtures are functioning properly and securely affixed. Doors open and close freely and are not warped or damaged. Furniture is secure, stable, and in good condition. Drawers are properly aligned and operating smoothly. Identify maintenance, safety, or repair issues and take appropriate corrective action. Respond promptly to guest service calls and maintenance requests in occupied guest rooms. Complete necessary repairs and communicate unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor or department. Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment. Interact professionally and courteously with guests, coworkers, and management at all times. Respond appropriately to guest complaints and maintenance-related concerns, working to resolve issues to the guest's satisfaction. Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Minimum of one year of general maintenance experience required. Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality-related environment is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be 21 years of age or older . Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and guest-ready environment. Ability to troubleshoot basic maintenance issues and complete routine repairs. Must be able to remain professional and composed in stressful or high-pressure situations. Must be capable of handling guest complaints and disputes and working toward satisfactory resolutions. Must be willing and available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays . Ability to work extended hours when business needs require. Physical and Work Environment Requirements The General Maintenance Technician must be able to perform the physical duties associated with general hotel maintenance, including walking and standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and performing repairs in guest rooms and other hotel areas. The position may require working in occupied guest rooms and interacting directly with guests while completing maintenance and repair activities.
