The Residential Garage Door Service Technician is responsible for the installation, service, repair, and maintenance of residential garage door systems. This role performs hands-on mechanical and electrical work while providing professional, customer-focused service in homeowners' residences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair residential garage doors, operators, springs, tracks, panels, cables, rollers, and hardware Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and determine appropriate corrective action Install and service motorized garage door openers, safety sensors, keypads, remotes, and control systems Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards Measure openings, verify materials, and ensure proper fit and operation Load, unload, and transport doors, parts, tools, and materials Communicate clearly with customers regarding work performed, recommendations, and safety concerns Complete service documentation, work orders, and job notes accurately and timely Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe working condition Follow all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and job-site safety procedures Represent the company professionally while onsite with customers Comply with all company policies, procedures, and performance expectations. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely to travel between job sites, customer locations, or other work-related destinations. This role may require driving DOT-regulated vehicles. Employees assigned to such duties must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DOT medical card and comply with all applicable driving and safety regulations.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm Safety Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and training requirements, including OSHA and applicable state safety regulations. Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and fall protection as applicable. Safely handle, install, adjust, and repair garage doors, springs, cables, tracks, openers, and related components, recognizing the hazards associated with high-tension systems. Inspect tools, ladders, vehicles, and equipment before use and report any unsafe conditions, damaged tools, or equipment immediately. Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce trip, slip, and fall hazards at job sites. Follow lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety practices when servicing powered equipment. Safely operate company vehicles and comply with all motor vehicle laws and company driving policies. Immediately report all work-related injuries, incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor in accordance with company reporting procedures. Participate in required safety meetings, training, and job safety analyses as assigned. Stop work and notify management if an unsafe condition exists that could result in injury or property damage. Failure to follow safety policies and procedures may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior experience in garage door installation, service, construction, mechanical repair, or related trade preferred Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Basic electrical knowledge (low-voltage systems, sensors, controls) Ability to read work orders, diagrams, and installation instructions Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background requirements Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver doors, panels, and materials weighing up to 75 lbs Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, reach, and work overhead Ability to work in varying weather conditions and residential environments Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Pay:
$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
