Maintenance Mechanic / Equipment Technician Pay rate up to $37 2nd shift hours Extremely clean environment Job Description This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery and building systems in a manufacturing environment. You will perform preventive maintenance on large industrial equipment and facility infrastructure, support production reliability, and ensure a safe, clean, and efficient operation across the entire site. Responsibilities Maintain plant machinery and equipment by following a standard preventive maintenance schedule to keep equipment operating at maximum efficiency and reliability. Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis on industrial machinery and equipment to resolve issues as they occur. Conduct general building maintenance, including light carpentry, painting, cleaning, light plumbing, changing light bulbs, repairing minor electrical devices, changing filters on HVAC equipment, and monitoring outdoor areas. Work on a wide range of industrial equipment, including large presses, rollers, pumps, rewinding machines, and other large mechanical systems. Support electrical and plumbing tasks within the facility, staying within the scope of routine facilities maintenance and escalating complex work as needed. Assist the Facilities Engineer in scheduling maintenance work and determining needs for equipment, tools, and supplies. Complete all assigned work in a consistent, timely, and effective manner, escalating unusual technical or personnel issues appropriately. Accurately record all maintenance actions in equipment maintenance logs so that complete records are available for each piece of equipment. Review and make recommendations to improve preventive maintenance procedures and best practices. Perform routine facilities maintenance without engaging in complex plumbing or electrical projects that require specialized contractors. Run errands to pick up parts or supplies as needed, typically 1 to 3 times per month. Assist in coordinating work performed by subcontractors and outside vendors for major jobs. Maintain the tool room to ensure repair parts, tools, equipment, and building supplies are available for maintenance activities. Make suggestions to improve quality, efficiency, safety, and communication within the maintenance function. Follow all safety practices, immediately correct or report unsafe or hazardous conditions, and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Provide off-hour coverage and support as required to ensure continuous operation of equipment and facilities. Adhere to organizational and facilities department policies and procedures, including appropriate attire, grooming, and attendance. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical and pneumatic diagrams, machine schematics, and troubleshooting manuals to guide maintenance and repair work. Fabricate small parts, brackets, assemblies, and tooling from various materials using standard shop equipment; perform welding when applicable. Perform other related duties as assigned by the department supervisor to support the overall maintenance and facilities function. Essential Skills Approximately 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work confidently on large industrial machinery and equipment. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience using basic hand tools and electrical meters safely and effectively. Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic diagrams, machine schematics, blueprints, and troubleshooting manuals. Basic PLC knowledge and the ability to work with industrial control systems at a fundamental level. Familiarity with building wiring and equipment, including electrical systems up to 480 volts, 3-phase. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and basic plumbing work. Good math skills and strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Strong documentation skills and the ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs. Competent computer skills for entering maintenance data and accessing technical information. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where limited standardization exists. Ability to work under pressure and respond with a strong sense of urgency when equipment or facility issues arise. Capability to make recommendations on spare parts, lock-out/tag-out, guarding, and appropriate operator involvement to support machine integrity and safety. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with maintenance staff and cross-functional teams. Comfort working at heights and accessing all areas of machinery and equipment, including climbing ladders, stooping, and bending. Ability to fabricate small parts, brackets, assemblies, and tooling using standard shop equipment. Valid drivers license to support occasional errands for parts and supplies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a maintenance mechanic, maintenance technician, or equipment technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Hands-on experience with large presses, rollers, pumps, and rewinding machines. General building maintenance experience, including light carpentry, painting, and facility upkeep. Welding skills are a plus for fabricating parts and assemblies. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and reliability-focused maintenance practices. Familiarity with lock-out/tag-out procedures and a strong commitment to driving a safety-focused culture. Ability to maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition while following prescribed safety regulations. Comfort working in a small maintenance team where cross-training and knowledge sharing are common. The schedule typically follows Monday through Friday afternoon to evening hours, with overtime as needed, and appropriate attire and grooming are expected in line with facilities policies.
