Deliver great patient care with compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families Answer patient calls and determine how best to help them Obtain a wide range of information from practitioners, caregivers, and nurses about patient's condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities, including the plan of care Provide physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising Turning and repositioning bedridden patients Ensuring patients receive an appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences Measure and record food and liquid intake and any urinary and fecal output; report changes to medical or nursing staff Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including but not limited to open wounds, bruising, or blood in urine or stool Monitor patients throughout their treatment Perform routine checks of patient's vital signs as scheduled and report abnormalities to the licensed nursing staff Liaise with patient families Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner Notify the ward clerk or monitor tech of needed supplies for the department Assist with maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of the department Prepares necessary documentation and charting for patients Greet patients and visitors The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff, and the public Detail-oriented with proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others Ability to maintain quality control standards Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations Ability to move, position self, consistently operate various types of equipment, able to detect/observe/identify details at close or distant range with or without accommodations, as well as exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
