Job Description

Position Summary The Commercial Greenhouse Maintenance Associate plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of greenhouse facilities, equipment, and environmental systems. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing greenhouse infrastructure, irrigation systems, climate control equipment, material handling equipment, and other facility assets. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced agricultural environment. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on greenhouse equipment, irrigation systems, environmental controls, heating and cooling equipment, ventilation systems, and other facility assets. Maintain and repair forklifts, golf carts, utility vehicles, and other greenhouse support equipment. Utilize the company work order management system to document, prioritize, and complete maintenance requests. Conduct routine inspections of greenhouse structures, mechanical systems, and equipment to identify and resolve maintenance issues before they impact operations. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and irrigation system issues. Repair greenhouse conveyor systems, doors, shade systems, fans, pumps, conveyors, and other operational equipment. Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations. Work collaboratively with production and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime and maintain optimal growing conditions. Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and replacement parts. Perform general facility maintenance and other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Strong working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and hydraulic systems. Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to quality workmanship. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Experience maintaining commercial greenhouse environmental control systems. Knowledge of irrigation, fertigation, pumps, and water distribution systems. Experience with HVAC, ventilation, boilers, or greenhouse climate control equipment. Experience troubleshooting 12-volt and 24-volt electrical systems. Welding, fabrication, or carpentry experience is a plus. Forklift or aerial lift certification, or the ability to obtain certification. Job Setting & Physical Demands This position is primarily performed in a commercial greenhouse and outdoor work environment, with occasional administrative duties completed in an office setting using computers and standard office equipment. Candidates must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. The position requires working in varying temperatures, humidity levels, dust, moisture, and exposure to fertilizers, plant material, and other agricultural allergens. Essential physical requirements include prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders, reaching, twisting, and performing repetitive hand movements throughout a full work day. The ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, forklifts, lifts, and other machinery is required, including obtaining any necessary certifications. Candidates must be comfortable working at heights exceeding six (6) feet and using radios or mobile communication devices. This position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business demands and seasonal production schedules require. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance is required.
