  • $52,388 Maintenance Support Tech II A15: $38,976
  • $58,045 Maintenance Support Tech III A17: $42,976
  • $64,469 The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
The essential duties for the Maintenance Support Tech I include: Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant. Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed. Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and/or permitting activities. Reviews and processes records of completed maintenance projects. Processes receipts and invoices for payment. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Additional duties for the Maintenance Support Tech II include: Assists with data entry for construction record-keeping. Composes and prepares correspondence and applicable recurring or special one-time reports and/or confidential and sensitive communications. Coordinates and tracks the progress of projects and/or specialized programs and informs supervisor or other Department officials of status. Maintains materials inventory. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Additional duties for Maintenance Support Tech III include: Inputs and maintains daily production reports and compiles monthly reports for manager. Coordinates with district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment. Prepares monthly and final maintenance contract estimates. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Grad or Equivalent in general education
Experience:
Maintenance Support Tech I = No Experience Required. Maintenance Support Tech II = 1 YEAR experience
  • Maintenance Support Tech III = 3 YEARS experience
  • Experience must be in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience.
(Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications .
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Applicable computer systems and applications Roadway maintenance concepts, methods and procedures Inventory/stock control procedures Purchasing methods and procedures. Proficient skill in Maintaining effective working relationships with others Dealing courteously and effectively with the public Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others Additional competencies for Maintenance Support Tech III include: Extensive knowledge of: Office management practices and procedures Applicable computer systems and applications Roadway maintenance concepts, methods and procedures Inventory/stock control procedures Purchasing methods and procedures Expert skill in: Applicable laws, rules, and regulations Maintaining effective working relationships with others Dealing courteously and effectively with the public Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
