AMG Aluminum NA is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic. In this vital role, you will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. Other duties may be assigned. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems, observing and listening to operating equipment to diagnose issues, then dismantling, repairing, or replacing defective parts. This includes troubleshooting the plant water system, repairing electrical equipment, and assisting with capacitor and fuse changes. Maintaining and rebuilding plant equipment, performing comprehensive maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of various machinery. This encompasses hydraulic cylinders, pumps (including changing and rebuilding), air motors, water pumps, rod mill gearboxes and heads, blenders, salt processing equipment, compressors, and diesel emergency generators. Fabrication and installation, setting up and operating metalworking tools like lathes, drill presses, and grinders to fabricate and repair parts. This also involves installing specialized functional and structural components. Foundry and furnace operations support, performing pot installation, repairing ladles and launders, lancing reverbs, and assisting with the operation and startup of reverbs, including changing pot cylinders. Preventative and predictive maintenance, lubricating and cleaning parts and equipment (including the Rod Mill), implementing predictive maintenance procedures, and performing routine service like cleaning and inspecting Zurn Fans, changing pump seals, and cleaning filter presses. Vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance, conducting maintenance, troubleshooting, and tune-ups on fork trucks, as well as repairs and rebuilds on trucks and cruces. Safety and inventory management, strict adherence to all company safety procedures, including Lockout of Equipment and Emergency Procedures. Also responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and completing necessary forms. Specialized skills, performing basic welding and cutting, including gas welding and brazing, and fundamental coiler maintenance, including changing filter cloth and seals. Other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Pre-Employment and Employment Requirements Capable of performing duties outdoors, regardless of weather. Must be physically capable of performing all tasks associated with the Maintenance Mechanic role, including working at heights or in confined spaces. Willingness and availability to be on call 24 hours a day, work overtime, be called in on breakdowns, and work weekends and holidays when necessary. This includes committing to the Maintenance Crew Schedule during plant shutdowns and on weekends and holidays. Eager to be trained and/or take courses to acquire new skills. Proven experience in mechanical tasks (please submit a resume detailing these skills). Possesses basic welding knowledge with course credit, demonstrated ability, or willingness to enroll in formal welding classes. Exhibits dependability, good attendance, and a strong overall work ethic. Highschool Diploma or GED Equivalent required 1-3 months of related foundry, manufacturing, or industrial experience preferred Fabrication experience desired Related certifications (welding (MIG & STICK), crane, man lift, forklift, etc.) preferred Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent attention to detail A pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical exam are required. Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of these checks. Candidates who refuse or cannot pass the drug screen with clear results (free of controlled substances) will not be eligible for hire.
