SUPPORT STAFF

JOB TITLE:
CABLING TECHNICIAN

Job Goal:

Cabling Technician installs all low voltage electrical infrastructures, maintains, and supports the school district's structured cabling, fire/security systems wiring and networks. This position ensures reliable connectivity for instructional, administrative, and security systems across all district facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Possess a valid Arizona driver's license.

Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job function.

1 or more years' experience in cabling maintenance/installation desired.

Knowledge of TIA/EIA cabling standards and best practices

Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and network diagrams

Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN)

Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment Valid

Ability to operate Lifts vary from building elevators (hydraulic, traction for passengers/goods) to construction aerial work platforms (scissor, boom, mast) and specialized lifts (dumbwaiters, platform/stair lifts, telehandlers) for specific tasks

Satisfactory criminal background check.

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications

Experience in K-12 or public-sector environments

Industry certification (BICSI, CONPTIA Network, or equivalent)

Fiber optic termination and testing

Familiarity with PoE devices, VoIP systems, and security systems

Core Job Functions:

Install, terminate, label, and test structured cable systems (CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A) and fiber optic cabling

Fire/security/EMS wiring systems Maintain and repair existing cabling infrastructure to support voice, data, wireless, and video systems

Install network racks, patch panels, wall plates, conduit, and cable management systems

Test and certify network cabling using industry-standard tools and equipment Troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to physical cabling and hardware Assist with installation and support of network switches, wireless access points, IP phones, security cameras, and other network-connected devices Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, labeling, and network diagrams

Support new construction, remodeling, and technology upgrading projects

Follow all district safety procedures and applicable building codes

Work collaboratively with district staff, administrators, contractors, and vendors to perform related duties as assigned

Installation and service of all district cameras Adhere to OSHA, National Electric Code, and district safety protocols; manage heights and confined spaces And any other duties assigned
