Job Description

Starboard Industries is a fast-growing Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business. We are seeking qualified and motivated technicians who are looking for personal and professional growth opportunities. Our current need is to dramatically increase our number of field technicians which will be groomed to become site leads and project managers. Starboard Industries is looking for experienced structured cabling technicians to support the installation, termination, and testing of Cat 6/6A cable systems. Duties and responsibilities of
Communication Technician:
Install j-hooks, cable tray, and conduits and supports correctly. Dress cables in pathways and work areas. Assemble racks and or cabinets. Terminate
CAT6/6A, RG6, RG11
jacks and connectors. Install, terminate and Test multimode and single mode fiber optic cable using various connector types a plus but not required. Demonstrate knowledge of connector color codes. Develop basic skills in terminating patch panels and wiring blocks. Demonstrate ability to test and certify cable systems Experience in the installation of CCTV and Access Control systems is a huge plus, but not required. Job requirements for
Communication Technician:
Must be able to work in a construction area at heights, on a ladder and confined spaces. Lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and peer employees. An ability to distinguish colors of communication materials. Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
Certifications and Licenses:
• BICSI Training certification is a plus, but not required. • Manufacturer training certifications a plus such as Belden, Mohawk, OCC, Panduit, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and present a professional image. Company shirts and hats will be provided. Must possess critical thinking skills as well the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s) Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s) Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other service documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements In addition, many Starboard Industries project sites include CCTV and Access Control systems. Experience is preferred but not required. Starboard Industries provides virtual and in-person training for industry training opportunities as well as manufacturer training. We believe our employees are the most important component to our success and provide a fantastic working environment. Technicians are required to provide standard industry hand tools to complete their tasks. If you do not have tools, Starboard will provide a complete tool kit to each new employee. Costs will be reimbursed through an agreed upon weekly deduct amount.

$20.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
