Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Audio Video, Alarm & CCTV Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of security, networking, and audiovisual systems across residential and commercial client sites. A significant part of this position will also involve pre-wiring and rough-in work in both new construction and existing residential and commercial environments. This includes pulling and routing low-voltage cabling, installing structured wiring, preparing equipment and device locations, and working around other construction trades. Your expertise will help ensure systems are properly installed and operate reliably while providing quality security, entertainment, networking, and communication solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in both finished environments and active construction sites. Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems including audiovisual equipment, CCTV cameras, alarm systems, access control, networking equipment, and related devices. Perform pre-wire and rough-in installations in residential and commercial new construction and renovation projects. Pull, route, secure, label, and terminate low-voltage cabling for audio/video, networking, security, surveillance, access control, and other systems. Install structured wiring and prepare equipment, camera, speaker, television, network, security, and control-system locations during the construction phase. Work in unfinished construction environments, including attics, crawlspaces, warehouses, commercial buildings, and other areas that may be subject to hot or cold temperatures. Coordinate low-voltage cable routing and equipment locations around electrical, HVAC, plumbing, framing, and other construction trades. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, electrical blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams to ensure proper system installation. Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on security systems, sensors, access control equipment, surveillance equipment, networking systems, and audiovisual systems. Diagnose and resolve issues involving computer hardware, networking components, cabling infrastructure, low-voltage wiring, and remote access software. Utilize hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other installation equipment safely and appropriately. Provide technical troubleshooting and repair of low-voltage wiring, security systems, audiovisual systems, networking equipment, and associated devices. Communicate with customers to understand their needs and provide professional recommendations when appropriate. Maintain service records and documentation for installations, inspections, repairs, and system configurations. Maintain clean and organized work areas and properly manage tools, materials, equipment, and job-site debris. Follow company procedures and applicable safety requirements during construction, installation, and service work. Skills and Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with installation, construction, electrical, telecommunications, or field service work. Experience with residential and/or commercial low-voltage pre-wiring and rough-in work is strongly preferred. Ability to pull and route cable efficiently while maintaining proper cable support, organization, labeling, and separation from electrical wiring. Understanding of computer hardware, networking, and structured cabling related to security and audiovisual systems. Experience with CCTV surveillance cameras, alarm systems, access control, intercoms, networking equipment, and audiovisual systems is preferred. Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, electrical blueprints, floor plans, and other technical documentation. Skilled in low-voltage cabling installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting. Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and common construction equipment. Ability to work independently as well as part of an installation team. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, contractors, and other trades. Construction experience is a plus, particularly experience working on residential new construction and commercial job sites. Knowledge of applicable low-voltage installation practices and NEC requirements is preferred.
