Carolina Custom Automation

Lead Low Voltage & Access Control Technician

Job Description

About Carolina Custom Automation (CCA) : CCA is a specialized, high-growth contractor operating in the commercial and industrial sectors. We provide a unique "dual-threat" service model: combining custom metal fabrication (automated gates, structural supports) with elite low-voltage security technology (CCTV, access control, fiber-optics). Our clients include major industrial manufacturers, data centers, and enterprise MSPs.
The Role :
We are actively expanding and transitioning our current Lead Technician into a Sales Management role. We need an experienced, highly autonomous Lead Low Voltage Technician to step in and take ownership of field installations. You will not be pulling residential speaker wire; you will be deploying enterprise-grade access control, IP camera systems, and automated gate operators for high-end commercial clients.
Key Responsibilities :
    Installation & Commissioning:
Install, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6, fiber optics, and low-voltage cabling for commercial access control and CCTV systems.
      Access Control & Security:
Mount, wire, and configure card readers, door strikes, maglocks, and NVR/VMS platforms.
        Gate Automation:
Wire and integrate telephone entry systems (e.g., Doorking/DKS), loop detectors, and access controls to custom automated gates.
          Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, wiring, and network-related issues on active commercial sites.
            Field Leadership:
Run the job site efficiently, communicate directly with General Contractors or IT Directors on-site, and ensure projects are completed within the estimated labor hours.
            Required Experience & Skills :
            • 3-5+ years of proven experience in commercial low-voltage installation (Division 28).
            • Deep understanding of access control hardware (strikes, maglocks, REX sensors) and IP camera configurations.
            • Experience with automated gate operators and telephone entry systems is a massive plus.
            • Ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints, MEP plans, and wiring schematics.
            • Strong mechanical aptitude—you aren't just a "software" tech; you know your way around power tools and commercial construction sites.
            • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
            Pay:
            $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
            Work Location:
            In person
