Lead Diesel Mechanic - Night Shift

Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Lead Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Alexandria, AL . The ideal candidate is safety-focused, experienced, and capable of leading shop operations during overnight hours while delivering high-quality repair and maintenance services. In this role, you will lead diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance efforts on trucks and trailers while mentoring and supporting other technicians to ensure efficient operations and high performance standards. Schedule Night Shift Rotating weekend on-call schedule required Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee nightly shop operations and workflow Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers Conduct preventative maintenance services, including inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment Guide, mentor, and support junior technicians to ensure quality workmanship and efficiency Coordinate repair priorities and timelines to minimize equipment downtime Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records Ensure shop cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance Assist with managing and maintaining parts inventory MIG aluminum and steel welding experience is a plus, but not required Qualifications 2-5 years of diesel mechanic experience required Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines, truck systems, and repair procedures ASE Diesel Certification preferred Valid Class A CDL preferred, but not required Ability to lift up to 150 pounds Strong reading, writing, and communication skills Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively Comfortable working overnight hours and responding to after-hours maintenance needs
Compensation & Benefits Pay Range:
