Closed on Sundays Diesel Technician Responsibilities Perform work specified on repair orders efficiently and in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered vehicles, including engine, transmission, fuel, cooling, exhaust, and electrical systems. Perform accurate diagnostics using electronic diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-approved tools and procedures. Complete multi-point inspections and document findings according to dealership requirements. Identify needed repairs and make appropriate recommendations to ensure the safety, performance, and reliability of customer vehicles. Perform routine maintenance as well as complex mechanical and diesel engine repairs. Communicate directly with Service Advisors regarding vehicle condition, recommended repairs, and estimated repair times. Document all work performed and ensure repairs are completed correctly and thoroughly. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Stay current on manufacturer training, new vehicle technology, repair procedures, and service specifications. Diesel Technician Qualifications Previous diesel technician or heavy-duty automotive repair experience preferred. GM diesel and/or Duramax experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Experience operating electronic diagnostic equipment and specialized repair tools. Knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, emissions systems, electrical systems, and drivetrain components. Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical concerns. Basic computer skills and ability to learn dealership and manufacturer software. Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to continually learn and improve. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dealership environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Willingness and ability to complete ongoing manufacturer training and certifications.
