Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HD Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. You will work on a diverse range of machinery, including trucks, farm equipment, industrial machinery, and heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment repair, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for maintaining high standards of vehicle performance. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems across various heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment checks, and system inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair needs. Operate heavy machinery including tractor-trailers, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial equipment safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair tasks. Inspect farm machinery, tractor-trailers, heavy trucks, HVAC systems on vehicles, shocks & struts, and other automotive systems for wear or damage. Maintain detailed service records, complete work orders promptly, and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Assist with vehicle assembly or equipment installation projects as needed while adhering to safety protocols. Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair findings clearly and offering recommendations for ongoing maintenance. Experience Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role within a dealership or industrial setting. Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as tractor-trailers, cranes, forklifts, and other large machinery. Strong knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT), Cummins, Detroit machinery systems as well as general automotive diagnostics and repair procedures. Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and hydraulic systems is essential. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and other fabrication tools. Experience performing vehicle maintenance including brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, suspension work, HVAC repairs for trucks or machinery. Ability to read technical manuals accurately and troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently. Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with strong customer service skills to support client needs effectively. Valid certifications related to heavy truck repair or diesel mechanics are preferred but not mandatory; ongoing training is encouraged to stay current with industry standards.
