Full-time Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of diesel engines, heavy duty transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
Use computerized diagnostic equipment (CAT, Cummings Insight, Diesel Laptops, etc.) and traditional testing methods to identify engine, transmission, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
Routine Maintenance:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid flushes, filter replacements, and tire rotations, etc.
Major & Minor Repairs:
Repair or replace defective components, ranging from brake systems, suspension, steering mechanisms to engine rebuilds, fuel injection systems, hydraulic and a/c systems.
Inspections:
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure all vehicles comply with DOT safety regulations.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a diesel mechanic or in a related heavy-duty repair role.
Technical Skills:
Solid understanding of diesel engine mechanics, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems.
Tools:
Possesses own set of basic hand and pneumatic tools (specialty tools will be provided by the shop).
Physical Ability:
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and regularly lifting up to [50-100] lbs.
Driver's License:
Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications:
RI Inspection License a plus,
DOT BRAKE Certified Licensure:
CDL, Medical Card Diagnostic Software:
Familiar with CAT Sys programs, Cummings Insight, Diesel Laptop, or similar programs.
