Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Diesel & Fleet Service Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery. Your expertise will ensure our vehicles and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operational goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of machinery, including farm equipment, construction vehicles, and commercial trucks, in a fast-paced environment that values mechanical excellence and proactive maintenance. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components across a wide range of heavy equipment and fleet vehicles. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, wheel alignments, and air brake system inspections to maximize vehicle lifespan and safety. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately. Fabricate parts or modify equipment using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific repair needs. Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial equipment for testing or repair purposes. Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements. Assist with vehicle assembly or disassembly tasks as needed for major repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols. Qualifications Proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel technician in a dealership or industrial setting. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and automotive electrical systems. Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and schematics interpretation. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools safely and effectively. Ability to lift heavy components safely during tire service or equipment repairs; physically capable of performing heavy lifting tasks regularly. Familiarity with heavy truck repair procedures including air brake systems and vehicle alignment techniques. Excellent customer service skills when interacting with fleet operators or truck drivers regarding vehicle issues. Certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), CDL (Commercial Driver's License), or manufacturer-specific training are preferred but not mandatory.
