This dynamic role requires a proactive leader with extensive mechanical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for ensuring equipment operates at peak performance. As the Lead Diesel Mechanic, you will guide a team of technicians, uphold safety standards, and ensure timely service to keep operations running smoothly. Your expertise will directly contribute to the efficiency and safety of our fleet. Duties Oversee a team of 3 diesel Technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship to ensure high-quality workmanship. Diagnose complex issues on heavy diesel commercial trucks, and trailers using schematics and diagnostic tools. Perform routine maintenance , repairs, and overhauls on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, suspensions, air brakes, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, and other mechanical components. Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet operational requirements. Conduct inspections utilizing fleet automotive diagnostics and electrical experience to identify potential problems before they become critical failures. Must of have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations. Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to heavy lifting, tire service, equipment assembly, and welding procedures. Responsible for creating work schedules, delegating tasks, handling paperwork (including work orders), coordinating with outside vendors, and controlling inventory parts and more. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and logs to track repairs performed and parts used for accountability and future reference. Requirements Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in diesel engine repair and heavy equipment maintenance. Extensive knowledge of Mack and Kenworth vehicles a plus; familiarity with schematics is essential. Proficiency in heavy diesel fleet repair including brake repair, Exhaust and Emissions Control, Heating and Air Conditioning, alignment services, hydraulics systems, Steering and suspension components, HVAC systems, shocks & struts. Skilled in fabrication techniques involving welding, soldering, assembly work using power tools and hand tools. Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately for troubleshooting complex systems. Strong electrical skills with experience in automotive diagnostics and service technician responsibilities. Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions; commitment to safety standards is mandatory. Must have an excellent driving record. CDL is preferred. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
