Job Overview & Core Responsibilities We're looking for a passionate Diesel Technician to join our shop in Channahon, IL! Our primary goal is to create a positive impact with every interaction and serve our drivers to the best of our ability. We're looking for a candidate who enjoys interacting with drivers and listening to their needs, in addition to technical skillset. You'll also need a safety-first mindset, strong organizational skills, and ideally a Diesel Tech degree or 1+ years' experience as a diesel or heavy-duty trailer mechanic. We need working equipment ready to go at all times, so this role is critical to Nussbaum's success!
Your duties include:
Preventative maintenance on semi-trucks & trailers. Diagnose and repair fleet equipment. Perform all inspections, including State and Federal mandated safety inspections. Complete repairs following DOT requirements. Perform system repairs, including air & hydraulic systems, tires, suspension, electrical, etc. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all assigned tractor/trailer equipment. Follow safe work practices. Maintain an organized and clean work area. Technician-Specific Benefits Quarterly tool allowance

1st shift (Shift based on current shop needs) 12-hour shifts with a 3 and 4 day split: Sunday through Tuesday or Thursday through Saturday every week Wednesday every other week 6:00AM
6:00PM Qualifications (preferred) Brake and DOT Certifications. Welding certificate or 6mos experience. 1
2 years of diesel tech/mechanic experience OR a diesel technician degree (or closely related field).
Class A or B Commercial Driver's License. Strong understanding of diesel automotive systems and electrical diagnostics. Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other automotive systems. Basic typing and computer skills. Able to navigate resource materials and schematics online. Basic toolkit and toolbox. Interpersonal skills, can effectively communicate with colleagues and superiors.
