Diesel Mechanic National Wrecking Company Chicago, IL Job Details Full-time $30 - $40 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Life insurance Qualifications Vehicle mechanics for truck drivers Mechanic experience Diesel mechanics Hand tools Full Job Description National Wrecking Company is seeking to hire an experienced mechanic to help service a fleet of diesel semi-trucks, hydraulic dump trailers, heavy duty construction equipment and passenger vehicles.

Responsibilities include:

Keep our truck and trailer fleet safe, operational, and up to DOT regulations; Perform routine and preventative maintenance services such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery; Inspect and maintain brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other parts to ensure that they are in proper working condition; Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engine, transmission, and differentials; Maintain accurate records of inventory and repairs; Provide your own set of hand tools that are sufficient for the required tasks; and Clean up the shop area at the end of your shift. Shift is Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, plus a lunch break. Shift hours are flexible, but we prefer someone that has availability later in the day to work on our trucks when they arrive back at our yard.
