Fick & Sons is a proud supporter of our local business, military, law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS personnel. In addition to our diesel garage, we provide propane services along with gas & oil transport (commercial & residential). Fick & Sons has been proudly serving Northern Michigan since 1958. Job Description We are looking for experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our team, while keeping up our level of commitment to safety and customer service by performing the following duties: Responsibilities Perform truck repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory & industry standards Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks Competencies Exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills, while keeping abreast of current developments Displays understanding of how job relates to others & uses resources effectively Contributes to building a positive team atmosphere Communicates clearly and informatively Adapts to changes in the work environment managing competing demands Sets and achieves challenging goals, while measuring self against standards of excellence Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and looks for ways to improve and promote quality Meets productivity standards, completing work in a timely matter Qualifications 2+ years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent combination of education & experience) Ability to lift up to 150 pounds Excellent reading, writing, and communication skills Ability to pass a background check and drug test Authorized to work in the United States Benefits Four, 10 hour work days with Weekends Off.
