Overview Join our dynamic team as a School Bus Fleet Mechanic and play a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our transportation fleet. In this energetic and hands-on position, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting a variety of school buses and heavy-duty vehicles. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, allowing students to travel safely to and from school every day. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on school buses and heavy equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards. Diagnose and repair mechanical issues related to engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools. Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly work for repairs or modifications on fleet vehicles. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers for vehicle movement or repair purposes. Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform repairs efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain detailed service records, repair logs, and maintenance schedules to ensure all vehicles meet regulatory requirements. Assist with tire service, alignment adjustments, shocks & struts replacement, HVAC system repairs, and other specialized tasks necessary for vehicle performance. Skills Proven experience working as a mechanic in dealership settings or heavy equipment repair environments. Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle systems, transmissions, diesel engines, and automotive electrical systems. Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering with the ability to handle heavy lifting safely. Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring diagrams and hydraulic systems troubleshooting. Experience operating heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery is highly desirable. Ability to perform complex repairs on heavy trucks, industrial equipment, and vehicle components such as shocks & struts or suspension systems. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or drivers.
