Full Job Description Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic/Technician Location:

Facility off Mustang Exit 23, outside

Sparks, NV Hours:

Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 3

PM, Weekends Off Wages:

Paid hourly

Benefits:

Company Overview:

We are a small company operating a fleet of trucks, trailers, backhoes, mini-excavators, forklifts, and miscellaneous equipment. We are seeking a reliable, experienced Diesel Mechanic/Technician to join our team to maintain and repair our fleet. We are looking for a self-starting, punctual, and knowledgeable Diesel Mechanic/Technician with experience in all areas of diesel repair, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. The candidate must be a team player, able to work without personal electronics during work hours, and possess a valid Nevada driver's license with a clean driving record. The role involves maintaining and repairing a small commercial fleet, including Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, Ford, Bobcat, and Case units.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform basic heavy-duty diesel and automotive vehicle maintenance. Conduct regulated annual and in-house 90-day inspections of vehicles/equipment. Complete required documentation for repairs, inspections, and daily mechanic logs. Review daily Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), address repair requests, perform repairs, and document completed work. Identify components, provide quotes for parts, and perform minor/major repairs. Conduct preventive maintenance. Perform facility and shop maintenance duties. Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems. Operate hydraulic oil filter crusher during downtime to meet hours, if needed. Maintain a daily log of all activities during work hours. Perform other related duties, tasks, and projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in heavy-duty diesel equipment repair preferred. 4-5 years of heavy-duty diesel equipment and air brake experience required; ASE qualifications and automotive repair experience are a plus. Basic mechanical aptitude, demonstrated problem-solving skills, proper tool usage, and in-depth repair experience required. Proficient in all aspects of repair and maintenance for a small commercial truck fleet (Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International, Ford, Bobcat, Case units). Computer familiarity required; training on internal computer documentation will be provided. Valid Nevada Class C driver's license with a clean driving record required; ability to drive company pickup for light fleet mobile service and parts runs. Ability to operate fleet trucks on company lot and in/out of shop bay preferred (CDL not required but a big plus). Positive attitude and effective communication skills. Ability to foster intra-company relations through positive, constructive, and cooperative work habits. Commitment to continuously developing skills in partnership with the manager. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is essential. Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specified location, submit to a background screening (including past employment and education), and pass a drug test. Must have own tools (some tools provided). Must have reliable transportation to work (facility is not on city bus line).

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg).

Note:

The start location is our facility off Mustang Exit 23, outside Sparks, NV. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this location daily.
