Job Summary We're looking for a hands-on Diesel Mechanic and Shop Foreman to lead our Perrysville terminal shop. This role is built for someone who still turns wrenches every day but also knows how to run a shop — managing a team, keeping equipment uptime high, and controlling costs against a real budget. You'll be part of a multi-terminal network (Garrett, Greenfield, Perrysville, and Defiance), so coordination with other shop leads and shared resources across locations is part of the job, not an exception to it. This is a working foreman role: you're expected to diagnose and repair equipment alongside your team, not just supervise from the office. What You'll Do Perform and oversee diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on Class 8 trucks, trailers, and yard equipment Lead, train, and mentor technicians of varying experience levels — this includes hands-on coaching on diagnostics, troubleshooting methodology, and shop safety, not just task assignment Manage the Perrysville shop's operating budget: parts, labor hours, outside vendor spend, and shop supplies — track against targets and flag variances Schedule and prioritize repair work to minimize truck and trailer downtime and keep drivers moving Coordinate with shop leads at other terminals on parts availability, tech coverage, and equipment transfers when needed Maintain accurate repair records, DOT inspection documentation, and warranty claims Order parts and manage vendor relationships within budget guidelines Enforce shop safety standards and ensure compliance with
DOT/FMCSA
requirements Provide hands-on support and backup coverage across all repair bays as workload requires What You'll Bring 5+ years of diesel/heavy-duty truck and trailer repair experience Prior lead technician, foreman, or shop supervisor experience — someone who has trained others and taken ownership of a shop's output, not just their own bay Working knowledge of managing a repair budget: parts cost, labor allocation, vendor spend Strong diagnostic skills across engines, brakes, electrical, HVAC, and drivetrain systems Comfort working within a multi-location shop network — communicating priorities, sharing resources, and following consistent standards across terminals CDL-A preferred (not required, but a plus for test-driving repaired units and occasional moves between terminals) Own tools required; shop provides heavy equipment and specialty tools Availability for some Saturday hours as workload demands Schedule Primary schedule is weekdays with periodic Saturday hours based on shop volume and fleet needs.
