Job Description
Overview The Diesel Mechanic will be integral to maintaining the safe and efficient operation of our equipment through thorough maintenance and repair activities. This role necessitates a strong grasp of essential maintenance practices, including the ability to conduct and interpret diagnostic tests, troubleshoot Kenworth machinery, inspect disc braking systems, and evaluate vehicle lighting systems. Moreover, the mechanic will be tasked with test driving vehicles to assess performance, performing preventative maintenance, and diligently documenting all service activities. A primary goal will be to reduce equipment downtime, thereby improving operational productivity while ensuring a safe and organized work environment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required. Candidates with a degree or diploma in Mechanical or Automotive trades and advanced knowledge of diesel engine components will be preferred. The ideal applicant should be a strong team player with excellent initiative and decision-making skills, capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 75 pounds and perform tasks involving standing, walking, and bending. The position also demands flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including weekends and call-outs, along with a valid driver's license. Preference will be given to those who can obtain a CDL within a reasonable timeframe to facilitate additional duties related to the maintenance and movement of the equipment fleet and products. Compensation for this position begins at $90,000, with opportunities for negotiation based on experience and qualifications.
