No Flat Rate Independent Auto & Diesel Repair
Jamestown, Tennessee If you are the person others turn to when the testing gets difficult, you enjoy a steady mix of automotive and diesel work, and you want your experience to matter beyond the vehicles in your own bay, Independent Auto & Diesel Repair would like to meet you!
Independent Auto & Diesel Repair is looking for an experienced automotive or diesel technician who wants more than a place to collect a paycheck. They want someone who will bring skill, momentum, and ideas to a small team, then grow alongside the shop as it expands. Diesel experience is valuable, but you do not need to be a diesel-only technician. Strong automotive skills, electrical testing ability, time management, and consistent production are the priorities. A shop that understands technicians One of the owners spent most of his career working flat rate and still steps into the shop when needed. He understands how much the shop's workflow, equipment, communication, and parts processes affect a technician's ability to produce. That experience influences how the shop is run. Technicians are provided with dedicated tablets, capable testing equipment, OEM-level software, and digital processes through AutoVitals and Tekmetric. Work is tracked, information is documented, and technicians are expected to manage their time well. No one is interested in creating busywork or standing over an experienced technician all day. The expectation is that you can take ownership of your bay, communicate what you need, and keep work moving without cutting corners. The technician we want to meet You are the kind of technician who can look at a full schedule and make a plan. You know how to balance testing, repair work, and communication so vehicles do not sit untouched while the day gets away from you. When a difficult vehicle comes in, you do not immediately reach for a parts cannon or wait for someone else to tell you every step. You gather information, study the data, test the system, and make a sound repair decision.
You should be comfortable with:
Advanced brake repair Advanced suspension and steering work Cooling-system testing and repair Driveline and transmission removal and replacement Timing belts and timing chains Head gaskets and internal engine repairs Engine performance and drivability testing Intermittent electrical concerns DVOM testing and wiring diagrams Live data and bidirectional controls Sensor and actuator testing Starting and charging systems Wiring repair CAN and LIN communication systems Module testing Oscilloscopes, pressure transducers, and other advanced testing tools You do not have to claim that you know everything. You do need the experience to work independently, interpret your results, and build a logical testing strategy. Good diesel knowledge is preferred, especially with Cummins, Duramax, Power Stroke, and aftertreatment systems.
