Job Overview
The Automotive Services Technician (Seat Repair) is responsible for providing service to the line mechanic by providing seat repair, support, and tire repair as required. Automotive Service Technicians may be required to work in any of the other Automotive Service areas.
Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
Repairs or replaces upholstery and foam in school buses and other LCPS vehicles
Inspects school bus seat cushions, seat frames, and seat belts for proper operation and structural integrity
Records labor and notes for assigned work orders using fleet maintenance software
Maintains clean work area and assist with shop cleaning
Assists Mechanic IIs with vehicle service as needed
Supports the work of other Automotive Service Technicians as needed
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Licenses and Certifications
CDL B with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements are required within six (6) months of hire date
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess the ability to use computers and fleet maintenance software to regularly record information for assigned work order
Demonstrated skill in using tools of the trade

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Essential Personnel

Emergencies may be natural or manmade. It is incumbent upon the supervisor to inform and confirm which essential personnel are required to work during emergency closings. Notification and confirmation of the expectation of essential personnel to report to work, or maintain as-needed status, will be executed with as much advanced notice as possible via in-person communication or email.
