The city's Electric Utility Division is at the forefront of grid transformation. In keeping with its mission, Loveland is now looking to onboard a Journey Substation Relay Technician. This person will be tasked with installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairs on electronic, electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment and systems in a substation environment. The role works on protective relaying, substation control systems, SCADA, power transformers, metal-clad switchgear, and other substation-related equipment. The position also supports vendor and contractor coordination, reporting, scheduling, inspection, testing, and final commissioning. The salary range for this position is $102,821.47 to $149,091.28 annually based on experience with competitive benefit package.
Qualifications include:
High school diploma or GED plus completion of an approved 4-year substation apprentice or Relay Testing Apprentice program with certification. 1 year working in a substation environment with experience in project management, construction, operations, testing, and maintaining substation equipment including protective relaying and SCADA equipment. 3 years is preferred. Possession of a valid driver's license. Additional college, vocational, or industry courses in electrical/electronic theory, lab work, associated mathematics, and communication systems OR Associate's degree in Electric or Electronic Sciences is preferred.
