Position Summary Southeastern Transformer Company is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Technical Supervisor to oversee and support the technical aspects of our transformer repair and rebuilding operations. This position is ideal for someone with strong electrical and transformer knowledge who can provide technical direction, troubleshoot problems, maintain quality standards, and help ensure equipment is repaired and tested correctly and safely. The Technical Supervisor will work closely with technicians, shop supervisors, management, and other departments to resolve technical issues and maintain consistent repair and testing standards.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
This position requires frequent lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking. The employee will work in an industrial plant environment that may be dirty, dusty, oily, and noisy. The ability to safely perform physical tasks and work comfortably in these conditions is required. Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and guidance to employees involved in transformer repair, rebuilding, and testing. Assist technicians with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems. Review transformer test results and help identify failures, abnormalities, and necessary corrective actions. Ensure proper testing procedures and repair standards are followed. Help diagnose transformer problems and determine appropriate repair procedures. Provide technical support involving transformer components, connections, voltage, KVA, phase, and other equipment specifications. Review nameplate information, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure equipment is repaired correctly. Assist with determining whether equipment is repairable and identifying required parts or repairs. Work with shop supervisors and technicians to resolve difficult or unusual repair issues. Monitor workmanship and help ensure completed equipment meets company quality standards. Assist with final inspections and quality-control activities. Help develop and improve repair, testing, and troubleshooting procedures. Train and mentor employees on proper technical procedures and equipment. Promote safe work practices and ensure employees follow established safety procedures. Help identify recurring equipment failures or repair issues and recommend corrective actions. Communicate technical concerns, repair problems, and equipment issues to management. Coordinate with other departments as needed to keep jobs moving through the repair process. Maintain accurate technical and testing documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience with electrical distribution equipment, transformers, or a related electrical field strongly preferred. Strong understanding of electrical troubleshooting and testing. Knowledge of transformer construction, components, connections, and operation preferred. Experience with transformer repair, rebuilding, or testing is highly desirable. Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams, nameplates, specifications, and technical information. Strong mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze test results and identify potential problems. Previous supervisory, lead technician, or team leadership experience preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to train employees and explain technical information clearly. Ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, and management. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work in an industrial/shop environment. The Technical Supervisor will play an important role in maintaining STC's standards for safety, quality, reliability, and workmanship.
