Drone Field Service TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Field Service Technician to undertake in-depth, daily system-level investigations for our Prime Air Drone system at our commercial operations sites. This role is pivotal in driving enhanced reliability within our ultra-fast drone delivery operations.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot drone issues observed during operations and rapidly find solutions to safely return drones to service
Support new drone delivery sites by provisioning site equipment, programming check flights, and verifying nominal performance before commercial operations begin
Ensure a high degree of technical reliability within drone operations by working closely with design engineering and service engineering staff
Provide engineering analyses and solutions to improve system reliability and performance
Leverage data-driven insights to identify opportunities and lead the implementation of system improvements
Serve as the first line of communication between operator/maintainer experiences and design engineering improvements or mitigations.
Essential Skills
BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent required
Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
Proficiency in scripting with modern programming languages
Experience in project management
Strong communication and writing skills
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in Aviation or Aerospace
Experience with drone systems
Experience working with operations teams to resolve urgent issues
Familiarity with engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is primarily virtual, with a preference to visit the site once a week if feasible. Flexibility is key as schedules may vary, especially when preparing for site launches. On-call duties are shared on a rotational basis, with occasional weekend work. You will need to be open to working over the weekend once a month, with compensatory weekdays off. Prime Air operates 7 days a week, ensuring that no two days are the same in this dynamic field.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Edgemere, MD.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00
