Drone Field Service Technician

Job Title:

Drone Field Service TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Field Service Technician to undertake in-depth, daily system-level investigations for our Prime Air Drone system at our commercial operations sites. This role is pivotal in driving enhanced reliability within our ultra-fast drone delivery operations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot drone issues observed during operations and rapidly find solutions to safely return drones to service
• Support new drone delivery sites by provisioning site equipment, programming check flights, and verifying nominal performance before commercial operations begin
• Ensure a high degree of technical reliability within drone operations by working closely with design engineering and service engineering staff
• Provide engineering analyses and solutions to improve system reliability and performance
• Leverage data-driven insights to identify opportunities and lead the implementation of system improvements
• Serve as the first line of communication between operator/maintainer experiences and design engineering improvements or mitigations.

Essential Skills

• BSc/MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent required
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Proficiency in scripting with modern programming languages
• Experience in project management
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in Aviation or Aerospace
• Experience with drone systems
• Experience working with operations teams to resolve urgent issues
• Familiarity with engineering project management software such as JIRA, Confluence, or other Agile tools.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is primarily virtual, with a preference to visit the site once a week if feasible. Flexibility is key as schedules may vary, especially when preparing for site launches. On-call duties are shared on a rotational basis, with occasional weekend work. You will need to be open to working over the weekend once a month, with compensatory weekdays off. Prime Air operates 7 days a week, ensuring that no two days are the same in this dynamic field.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Edgemere, MD.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00
