Job Description
Mitigation Technician Mt. Hood Restoration & Construction Job Summary The Mitigation Technician is responsible for performing water, fire, mold, biohazard, and other emergency mitigation services in accordance with Mt. Hood Restoration & Construction (MHRC) procedures, industry standards, and safety requirements.
This position works under the direction of the Mitigation Manager/Supervisor and is responsible for completing assigned work safely, efficiently, and professionally. Mitigation Technicians are expected to properly document jobsite conditions and work performed, maintain company equipment and vehicles, communicate effectively with the team and customers, and provide a high level of customer service.
Because mitigation work often involves emergency situations, technicians must be dependable, flexible, and prepared to participate in the company's after-hours on-call rotation. Duties & Responsibilities Respond to water, fire, mold, biohazard, storm, and other emergency losses as assigned. Follow direction from the Mitigation Manager/Supervisor and adhere to MHRC mitigation procedures and job-specific scopes of work. Perform water extraction, demolition, debris removal, cleaning, drying, containment, and other mitigation activities. Set up, monitor, move, and remove drying equipment, including air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and related equipment. Perform moisture inspections and document moisture readings and drying progress as required. Complete daily job documentation, including photos, notes, equipment logs, moisture readings, work performed, and other required information. Provide accurate and timely job updates to the Mitigation Manager/Supervisor and immediately communicate changes in scope, unexpected conditions, safety concerns, or customer issues. Establish and maintain appropriate containment to prevent cross-contamination when required. Perform fire and smoke cleanup, including debris removal, soot cleaning, odor control, and other assigned restoration activities. Assist with mold remediation and other specialty remediation work in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. Use proper PPE and respiratory protection as required for each jobsite and task. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite throughout the project. Protect customers' property and belongings while performing mitigation work. Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, property managers, tenants, subcontractors, and other team members. Never make commitments regarding insurance coverage, pricing, project scope, or completion dates without authorization from management. Properly clean, maintain, track, and return company tools and equipment. Maintain company vehicles in a clean and professional condition and immediately report damage, mechanical concerns, or safety issues. Follow all MHRC safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite-specific safety procedures. Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining MHRC quality standards. Participate in the company's after-hours emergency on-call rotation as scheduled. Accurately record time, job information, and required documentation before leaving or closing out assigned work. Attend required safety meetings, training, certifications, and company meetings. Perform additional restoration, construction, cleanup, or emergency-response duties as assigned. Jobsite & Documentation Expectations Mitigation Technicians are expected to: Arrive at jobsites prepared, in proper company attire, and with required PPE. Review the assigned scope and instructions before beginning work. Take appropriate before, during, and after photos. Maintain accurate moisture readings and equipment documentation. Document work completed each day. Report any additional damage or potential change in scope before proceeding with work outside the approved assignment. Immediately report unsafe conditions, customer concerns, property damage, injuries, or incidents to management. Leave the jobsite clean, secure, and professional at the end of each workday. Ensure company equipment is accounted for and properly documented before leaving the jobsite. Qualifications Restoration, mitigation, construction, or related field experience preferred. Knowledge of water mitigation, structural drying, fire/smoke cleanup, mold remediation, and demolition practices preferred. IICRC certifications are preferred but not required unless specified by MHRC. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, extraction equipment, drying equipment, moisture meters, and other restoration equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established company procedures. Strong attention to detail, particularly with job documentation and equipment tracking. Professional communication and customer service skills. Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team. Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles, when required. Willingness to participate in after-hours, weekend, and emergency on-call rotations. Ability to work in environments involving water damage, fire/smoke damage, mold, debris, confined spaces, and varying temperatures. Ability to wear required PPE and respiratory protection when necessary. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in confined or restricted spaces. Safely lift, carry, push, and move equipment, debris, building materials, and contents. Work on ladders and in attics, crawlspaces, and other challenging environments when required. Perform physically demanding work for extended periods. Work in varying environmental and weather conditions.
