Norwalt is seeking a Field Service Technician to be our hands-on presence at customer facilities — installing new equipment, diagnosing issues in the field, and keeping high-speed automated production lines running. This role spends roughly 60% of its time traveling to customer sites. Every job comes with a full briefing in advance — parts, known issues, and site details — so you show up prepared. You'll report to the Service Manager and the Director of Operations, with day-to-day support from the Service Manager. Travel is scheduled within a normal work week whenever possible; when off-hours work is unavoidable, it's compensated. What You'll Do
Install and commission new automated machinery at customer sites, including line-up, run-off, and testing at the Norwalt facility before shipment
Diagnose and resolve equipment issues on-site, working directly with customer operators and maintenance staff
Rebuild and repair components on previously installed custom automation equipment
Recommend spare parts and upgrades for worn or outdated components, in coordination with the Service Manager
Help customers put together spare parts orders
Submit service reports and expense reports promptly after each trip What You Bring
4+ years of hands-on experience with automated machinery
Comfort reading pneumatic and electrical schematics
Solid math skills, including fractions and decimals
Working computer literacy; CAD exposure is a plus but not required
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools is helpful but not required
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight and multi-day trips Physical Requirements
Able to lift and carry up to 45 lbs, including from below waist height to overhead
Able to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs for extended periods — sometimes over long distances — as part of daily site work About Norwalt Since 1971, Norwalt Design Inc.
