JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Purpose:
Support the deployment, setup, inventory, and basic troubleshooting of district technology devices including iPads, student laptops, staff laptops, and desktop computers. Provide entry-level technical support for iPads and student laptops and assist Field Service Technicians with device preparation, distribution, collection, and routine service tasks. This position is assigned only to bond-related work and is contingent on the availability of district bond funds.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepare, configure, label, and deploy district technology devices including iPads, student laptops, staff laptops, and desktop computers received through bond project purchases. Assist with the distribution, collection, exchange, and inventory of assigned technology equipment. Provide basic troubleshooting and routine support for iPads and student laptops Escalate issues beyond established procedures to a Field Service Technician or other appropriate support staff. Maintain accurate records of deployed devices, accessories, service activity, and inventory transactions using approved systems. Document issues, requests, and completed work in the approved ticketing system. Provide courteous and timely customer service to students and staff. Transport equipment between district locations as assigned. Assist with maintaining organized work areas, storage locations, warehousing, and deployment materials. Follow district procedures for handling devices, accessories, and sensitive equipment. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area when possible and report non-correctable issues to the supervisor immediately. Know and practice proper safety procedures in lifting, transporting, and handling equipment required for the job. Attendance at work is an essential function. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Experience:
Experience in customer service, device deployment, inventory handling, or entry-level technology support preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required Additional job-related training or technical coursework preferred Valid Texas driver's license (appropriate type or class) Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Basic knowledge of mobile devices, laptop computers, desktop computers, and related peripherals Basic knowledge of various operating systems and device setup procedures Ability to follow established processes for device deployment, inventory control, and routine troubleshooting Ability to organize equipment and complete work accurately in a fast-paced environment Able to communicate effectively with students and staff both verbally and in writing
OTHER INFORMATION
Equipment Used:
Uses test equipment, equipment without covers, mobile equipment cart, copy machine, computer, and audiovisual equipment.
Working Conditions Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling (intermittent), repeated bending (intermittent), operation of motor vehicle, specific visual requirements (reading directions, equipment operation, parts book, schematics), ability to distinguish basic colors (color coded wire), specific hearing requirements (oral and phone conversations, noise awareness). Outside and inside, excessive humidity, excessive dampness or chilling, dust; fumes, smoke, or gases; solvents (degreasing agents), grease and oils, electrical energy, works around machinery with moving parts, works around moving objects or vehicles, working with hands in water.
