Full-Time Typical Hours:
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Do you enjoy working with your hands, fixing things, and taking pride in keeping a property looking its best? The Manhattan Yacht Club , one of the largest recreational sailing organizations in New York Harbor, is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician / Handyman to join our team. This position is perfect for someone who is mechanically inclined, enjoys solving everyday maintenance problems, and wants to work in a unique waterfront environment surrounded by boats and the New York City skyline. No marine experience is required. We will teach you the marine-specific systems. What You'll Do Every morning, you'll help keep our club running by collecting and disposing of the day's trash using our Ford F-150 pickup truck. Once that is complete, no two days are the same. You'll assist with a variety of maintenance projects that keep our clubhouse, docks, and marina facilities operating safely and looking great.
Responsibilities include:
Drive our Ford F-150 to transport daily trash to the marina dumpsters. Collect and load approximately 10-30 garbage bags each morning. Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the yacht club. Troubleshoot and maintain marine restroom facilities and plumbing fixtures. Complete light plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and repair projects. Assemble, install, and repair equipment using common hand tools. Keep maintenance areas organized and equipment in good working order. Help prepare the club for member activities and special events. Assist with additional maintenance projects as assigned. What We're Looking For Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required). Comfortable driving a full-size pickup truck. Experience using basic hand tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, and power tools. Mechanically inclined with good problem-solving skills. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. Able to lift and carry garbage bags, supplies, and equipment. Positive attitude and willingness to tackle a variety of tasks. Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, marina operations, apartment maintenance, or handyman work is a plus—but not required. This position is ideal for someone who has worked in apartment maintenance, building maintenance, construction, landscaping, property management, or as a general handyman and is looking for a stable daytime schedule. Schedule Monday through Friday Typical hours are 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Additional hours may be available during our busy boating season.
