CITY GARAGE MECHANIC THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE IS LOOKING FOR A CITY GARAGE MECHANIC. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

MAINTAIN

AND REPAIR GAS AND DIESEL VEHICLES FOR THE CITY'S FLEET. EXAMINES VEHICLES AND DISCUSSES WITH EMPLOYEE THE NATURE AND EXTEND OF DAMAGE OR MALFUNTION. RAISES VEHICLE USING A HYDRAULIC JACK OR HOIST TO GAIN ACCESS TO MECHANICAL UNITS BOLTED TO UNDERSIDE OF VEHICLE. REPAIRS OR REPLACES PARTS SUCH AS PISTONS, RODS, GEARS, VALVES, AND BEARINGS. RELINES AND ADJUSTS BRAKES, ALIGNS FRONT END, REPAIRS OR REPLACES SHOCK ABSORBERS, AND SOLDERS LEAKS IN RADIATOR. INSPECTS, ADJUSTS AND REPAIRS GASOLINE AND DIESEL TRACTORS, AND HYDRAULIC AND CABLE OPERATED ATTACHMENTS ON TRACTORS. PERFORMS WELDING OPERATION ON EQUIPMENT. PERFORMS, REPAIR, OVERHAUL AND MAINTENANCE OF VEHICLES

DIAGNOSE PROBLEMS AND RECOMMEND REPAIRS TO BE MADE

IDENTIFY AND SECURE SERVICE FOR ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR WORK WHICH CANNOT BE PERFORMED IN-HOUSE. QUALIFICATIONS

MUST

HAVE AT LEAST 3 YRS AS A SKILLED AUTO MECHANIC AND A COMPLETE MECHANIC APPRENTICESHIP AND OR TRAINING. CURRENT ASE CERTIFICATION IS PREFERRED.
