Job Description

Job Summary :
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment to support the daily operations at Hickmans Egg Ranch. This role involves safely handling machinery to transport materials, assist in production, and complete various tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, skilled in operating multiple types of equipment, and committed to contributing to an efficient and productive work environment.
Responsibilities and Duties :
Operate various types of heavy equipment, including forklifts, loaders, tractors, and other machinery, following all safety protocols and company guidelines. Safely transport materials across the site, including loading and unloading goods as required for production and operational needs. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal functionality and report any issues to the maintenance team. Follow designated routes and pathways to maintain order and safety on site, minimizing disruptions to other operations. Assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas by moving materials to designated locations. Perform minor repairs and adjustments on equipment as needed, coordinating with maintenance for larger repairs. Adhere to all biosecurity and environmental regulations, ensuring equipment is cleaned and maintained to prevent cross-contamination. Document equipment usage and maintenance activities as required by company policy. Support other teams as needed, assisting in production, cleanup, or other tasks as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
Requirements and Skills :
High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience operating heavy equipment, with relevant certifications as required (e.g., forklift certification). Strong understanding of equipment safety standards and operational guidelines. Basic mechanical skills to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs. Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit, stand, and operate heavy machinery for extended periods. Must be able to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working outdoors and in various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, heat, and noise.
