Flexible / Project-Based Job Summary DES Home Services LLC is expanding! We are looking for an experienced, skilled, and detail-oriented Handyman / General Maintenance Technician (Independent Contractor) to complete residential maintenance, home repairs, and minor remodeling projects across Stamford and surrounding areas. If you take pride in quality craftsmanship, have your own tools and transportation, and are looking for consistent local contract work with a growing company, we want to hear from you! Key Responsibilities Execute general home repairs, maintenance tasks, and home improvement punch lists.
Minor Plumbing:
Replacing faucets, clearing minor drains, replacing toilets/flappers, fixing basic leaks.
Minor Electrical:
Replacing light fixtures, ceiling fans, outlets, switches, and wall plates.
Drywall & Painting:
Patching holes, spackling, sanding, trim touch-ups, and interior painting.
Carpentry & Assembly:
Door alignment, lock/hardware installation, cabinet repairs, trim work, and furniture assembly. Maintain clear communication, punctuality, and a clean workspace while providing top-tier customer service to homeowners.
Requirements & Qualifications Contractor Status:
Must operate as an Independent Contractor (1099) .
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of verifiable experience in home repairs, maintenance, or residential trades.
Tools:
Must own a complete set of personal hand tools, power tools, ladders, and equipment necessary for general home repairs.
Vehicle & License:
Valid Driver's License, active auto insurance, and a reliable work vehicle (van, truck, or SUV capable of carrying tools and materials).
Insurance:
Must carry or be willing to obtain active General Liability Insurance .
Work Ethic:
Strong attention to detail, honesty, self-motivation, and excellent customer communication skills.
Background Check:
Must be willing to undergo a standard background check.

Are you willing to undergo a standard background check as part of the hiring process? Are you registered as a Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) with the CT Department of Consumer Protection?
