New Smyrna Beach, FL Area | Full-Time | Day Shift We are seeking an experienced Working Lead Mechanic to take ownership of a small, busy fleet maintenance operation in the New Smyrna Beach area. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a strong mechanic who enjoys working independently. This is a single-technician shop with no other technicians on staff, so the successful candidate will be responsible for performing repairs, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, parts coordination, and the overall day-to-day operation of the shop. What You'll Do Perform hands-on repairs and preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers. Diagnose and repair air brake, suspension, drivetrain, electrical, and other mechanical systems. Perform minor and major engine repairs as needed. Perform repairs and maintenance on pneumatic tank trailers. Use vehicle diagnostic software and electronic systems to accurately diagnose equipment issues. Maintain accurate electronic repair orders and coordinate parts orders. Manage parts and tire inventory. Prioritize and coordinate maintenance needs to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized, and productive shop environment. Work independently while communicating maintenance needs, repairs, and equipment status with management. Provide hands-on support during breakdowns and other urgent maintenance situations. Perform other mechanical and shop duties as required. What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of heavy-duty truck/trailer mechanical experience , or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong working knowledge of air brake, suspension, drivetrain, and electrical systems. Experience diagnosing and repairing Class 8 trucks and trailers. Ability to work independently and take ownership of a maintenance operation. Basic computer skills; experience with TMT or similar maintenance systems is a plus. Pneumatic tank trailer experience is a plus. Class A CDL and/or Class 8 wrecker experience is a plus. Trade or technical school certification is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
