Mechanical Coordinator Job Description The Mechanical Coordinator will oversee repair work on a metal office building, ensuring that all mechanical activities comply with commercial building codes and project specifications. This role focuses on coordinating mechanical construction and repair efforts, collaborating closely with the general contractor, and maintaining thorough documentation of project progress, scope changes, and quality assurance activities. Responsibilities Oversee mechanical repair and replacement work on a metal office building from start to completion. Ensure all mechanical work complies with applicable mechanical commercial building codes and standards. Collaborate effectively with the general contractor to plan, coordinate, and review repair and replacement activities. Understand and interpret mechanical construction drawings, specifications, and project scope for building repairs. Prepare and maintain detailed daily progress reports documenting work performed, issues encountered, and resolutions. Take clear, accurate photographs to document work status, quality, and any changes in project scope. Identify, document, and communicate scope changes in a timely manner to relevant project stakeholders. Track and submit project-related documentation, including change requests and requests for information (RFIs). Support mechanical quality assurance activities to verify that work meets project requirements and industry standards. Monitor mechanical construction activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and schedule expectations. Coordinate with field teams and contractors to resolve mechanical issues and clarify technical requirements. Assist in managing mechanical capital expenditure (capex) aspects related to building repair work. Provide technical input and oversight for mechanical construction tasks in a petrochemical project environment. Maintain organized records of inspections, QA findings, RFIs, and scope adjustments for project reporting and closeout. Essential Skills Minimum of 5+ years of mechanical construction oversight experience, preferably on commercial or industrial projects. Minimum of 5+ years of mechanical quality assurance (QA) experience in construction environments. At least 5+ years of experience working on petrochemical construction projects. Strong knowledge of mechanical commercial building codes and their application to repair and replacement work. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a general contractor on building construction and repair projects. Proficiency in documenting daily progress reports in a clear, accurate, and timely manner. Ability to take high-quality photographs and use them to document work status and scope changes. Experience tracking and submitting project documentation, including RFIs and change-related records. Solid understanding of mechanical construction processes, repair methods, and replacement strategies. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of mechanical QA. Effective communication skills for coordinating with contractors, field personnel, and project stakeholders. Organizational skills to manage documentation, track scope changes, and support project reporting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Active TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) is preferred. Experience in mechanical construction within commercial building environments. Familiarity with capital expenditure (capex) processes related to mechanical construction projects. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and building repair scopes. Experience working in or near petrochemical facilities and understanding of related safety and compliance expectations. Capability to adapt to changing project scopes and priorities while maintaining documentation accuracy. Work Environment This role is based on-site at a metal office building undergoing repair and mechanical construction work. The Mechanical Coordinator will spend significant time in the field, working closely with the general contractor and construction teams in an active project environment. The work involves exposure to typical construction site conditions, including outdoor and indoor areas, equipment in use, and ongoing repair activities. The position requires consistent presence on site to monitor mechanical work, perform quality assurance, and document progress, with work hours aligned to standard construction schedules and project needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Addis, Louisiana. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
