Field Service Technician- Heavy Equipment

Job Description

About the role You'll run service calls across Central New York in a fully equipped service truck, diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment on customer job sites and at our facilities. This is hands-on troubleshooting work on diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems — the kind of problems that don't have a clear answer when you pull up. Day to day, you'll: Diagnose and repair customer- and dealer-owned equipment in the field Perform scheduled maintenance and pre-delivery inspections Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to isolate faults Document findings, parts, and labor accurately on each WO Communicate directly with customers about what you found and what it will take to fix it What you bring Solid working knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment 5+ years of related experience preferred — we'll talk to strong candidates with less Comfort working across multiple equipment types and manufacturers Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics Basic computer skills for diagnostic software, parts lookup, and WO entry Your own hand tools, or the ability to build a set — we help (see below) A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Class [A/B] CDL within [X] months; we cover the cost Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check Your truck, your tools Depending on your proximity to our branch and after your probation period, you get a fully outfitted service truck to take home. No morning trip to the shop to pick it up, no evening trip to drop it off — you leave from your driveway and head to the first call. Laptop, phone, and diagnostic hardware come with it. On tools, we know a tech's box is a career-long investment. We provide a [$400] annual tool allowance, and all specialty and manufacturer-specific tooling is supplied by us. If you're building your set up, that allowance is real money toward it rather than a line item you have to fund yourself. EOE Pay:
$35.00 - $44.00 per hour
