We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Lead Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation readiness of our heavy equipment and fleet. The Mechanic will perform hands-on diagnostics and repairs while providing direction and support to other mechanics and maintenance personnel. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, experience with diesel-powered heavy equipment, and the ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction and/or industrial equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on equipment and vehicles. Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, transmissions, and other mechanical components. Prioritize equipment repairs based on safety, operational needs, and downtime. Inspect equipment to identify potential mechanical issues before they result in costly breakdowns. Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts, and maintenance activities. Coordinate with management and equipment operators regarding equipment condition and repair needs. Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work area. Assist with ordering parts and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair needs when required. Follow all company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements. Qualifications Experience repairing heavy equipment, diesel equipment, trucks, or similar machinery. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs. Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple repairs. Valid driver's license required. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Experience with diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting is preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in awkward positions for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely operate or work around heavy equipment.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
