Pavement Marking Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the specialized equipment used in pavement marking and roadway construction operations. This position ensures that paint trucks, thermoplastic equipment, grinders, sweepers, compressors, hydraulic systems, trailers, and related support vehicles remain safe, dependable, and ready for production. The mechanic will perform both routine maintenance and corrective repairs and may provide field support when equipment issues arise. Key Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on pavement marking, striping, and roadway construction equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Perform maintenance and repairs on MRL and HOG equipment and related products (this is experience is a PLUS) . Maintain and repair paint trucks and associated striping equipment. Service thermoplastic trucks and handliners. Maintain air compressors, hydraulic pumps, and hydraulic motors. Inspect, repair, and maintain grinders, sweepers, trailers, and other support equipment. Diagnose and repair striping systems, including paint pumps, bead dispensing systems, spray guns, and heating components. Complete routine equipment inspections and accurately document maintenance and repairs. Provide field service and respond to equipment breakdowns or emergency repair needs when required. Work closely with operations personnel to identify equipment priorities and keep critical equipment available for production. Perform all work in accordance with company safety policies, applicable DOT requirements, and manufacturer recommendations. Keep the maintenance shop, tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized. Perform welding, fabrication, and other repair work as needed. Safely operate service trucks, forklifts, and other shop or field equipment. Required Qualifications At least 3 years of mechanical experience, preferably working with heavy equipment, diesel engines, or roadway construction equipment. Previous experience with pavement marking or striping equipment is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of:
Diesel engines and power systems Hydraulic systems Electrical systems and troubleshooting Welding and metal fabrication Mechanical diagnostics and repair Ability to read equipment schematics, identify mechanical problems, and determine appropriate repair solutions. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one. Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, during peak construction periods. Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. Must pass a drug test. Pay based on experience.
Pay:
$30.00 - $33.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 50.0 per week
