POSITION OVERVIEW
Leads the mobile equipment maintenance department. Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; adjusting and alignments; keeping records. Assists in scheduling PMs, personnel, and prioritizing work. Will supervise subordinate technicians, submit reports, as required, and ensure all tasks are being performed safely. Will research and requisition parts and tools.
Job Requirements:
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts. Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications. Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Previous CAT experience and/or certifications or formal training highly desired Ensures proper housekeeping, including 5S, in shop area. Any and all other duties assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AC
certification, advanced training in hydraulics and electronics, welding, completion of certified program for heavy duty mechanic, tooling, mechanical inspection tools, technical understanding, attention to detail, dependability, thoroughness, verbal communication, documentation skills, job knowledge, CAT experience. Ability to use email and basic Microsoft Works (Word and Excel).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift up to 100 pounds, use their hands to handle, control, or feel, objects, tools, or controls, stand for long periods of time, bend or twist their body, repeat the same movements, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl, walk or run for long periods of time
