Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic Location:
Chatham, VA (Home Base)
Travel Required:
Southern Virginia & Southern West Virginia Central Contracting is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of Caterpillar, Komatsu, Peterbilt, and support equipment. We are looking for someone who can diagnose and repair equipment in the field with minimal supervision. Pay & Benefits $30.00-$35.00 per hour (based on experience) 50-60 hours per week $115/day per diem (Monday-Thursday) Company-provided service truck $200/month tool allowance Company pays for broken or damaged work-related tools Full-time, year-round work Health insurance available Work Area Home base is Chatham, Virginia , with travel to projects throughout: Bristol, VA Grundy, VA Stuart, VA Martinsville, VA Southern West Virginia Other regional jobs as needed Responsibilities Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, engine, drivetrain, and undercarriage issues. Perform preventative maintenance. Repair excavators, dozers, articulated trucks, loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, pickups, and support equipment. Complete field repairs with minimal downtime. Maintain accurate repair documentation. Work safely and maintain a clean service truck. Requirements Minimum 5 years heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred. Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Peterbilt, or similar equipment. Ability to diagnose electrical and hydraulic systems. Must have your own mechanic's tools. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. CDL is a plus but not required. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
