Job Description

Assistant Superintendent — HVAC / Mechanical (Bilingual) Dual Aire Services North Lauderdale, FL Job Details Full-time $55,000 - $65,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Foreign language proficiency Spanish OSHA English Driver's License ProCore Air conditioning Full Job Description Dual Aire Services is a mechanical contractor. We specialize in mid-rise concrete buildings, and most of what we build is tunnel form. We have ten jobs running right now across South Florida, more than three thousand units in total. Most of our work comes from builders who have hired us before, and that comes down to how our people perform in the field. We are adding an Assistant Superintendent to our South Florida team. Your home base would be our Cypress Creek jobs in Fort Lauderdale, where we have three apartment buildings going within a half mile of each other, and you would lend a hand on our other jobs as they need it. What the job looks like You would be working alongside our superintendents and giving them the support they do not have today. Some days that is walking floors and checking installed work against the drawings. Some days it is sitting in the builder's coordination meeting and bringing back what was said. Some days it is running to the supply house because a crew came up short and cannot wait until tomorrow. You would also help schedule inspections, keep the job paperwork current, and keep the office in the loop. You will not know all of that on your first day, and we do not expect you to. Our superintendents will teach you the mechanical side, the code, and how the inspections go. What we need from the start is somebody who shows up early, keeps track of what he is told, and chases down whatever the job needs. You would also be giving direction to men who have been installing this work far longer than you have. That is how we built the job. They know the craft and we count on them for it, and you will learn a great deal from them. Your side of it is the schedule, the coordination with the general contractor and the other trades, the material, and the reporting. Where the two meet in the middle, ask them what they think and then make the call. Where this leads This position is a step toward running your own jobs. We are growing, and we would rather bring somebody along and promote him than go looking outside for a superintendent. If you are willing to work and willing to learn, we will help you get there. Language Most of our installers speak Spanish. Our builders, the county inspectors, and our office work in English. We need somebody comfortable in both, well enough to go back and forth on a job site all day without anything getting lost. We will visit with you in both languages when we meet. Technology We run our own app in house for scheduling and reporting, and we use our own email service. You get an iPad on your first day. The general contractors run Procore, so you would work in their system too, mostly daily reports and toolbox talks, and punch lists once the job reaches that stage. We can teach you Procore. What we need is somebody comfortable getting his work done on a screen. What we are looking for
  • Comfortable talking with people in both Spanish and English.
  • Some time around air conditioning, mechanical, or construction work. You do not need years of it, and you do not need to have run a crew.
  • A willingness to work hard and be taught. The mechanical side, the code, and how inspections go are all things we can teach.
  • Comfort with an iPad and email, and a willingness to learn Procore if it is new to you.
  • A valid Florida driver license and a good driving record. Nice to have, but not expected
  • Experience on tunnel form projects. That is the majority of our work, and somebody who already knows the sequence of it has a real head start.
  • Time in the field on apartments or commercial buildings, five stories and taller.
  • Any experience leading a crew, even a small one.
  • Comfort reading mechanical drawings.
  • EPA 608 Universal, or OSHA 30.
About us We are a family owned business, and we have been in business since 1973. We do things Charlie's Way, after our founder. That means showing up early, being straight with people about where the job really stands, looking after the men who work with you, and finishing what you start. Dual Aire Services, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
