In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting refrigerated and mechanical systems critical to our cold storage operations. Your expertise will ensure the reliability and efficiency of refrigeration units, HVAC systems, and related mechanical components, supporting our commitment to quality and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity for technicians passionate about building automation, refrigeration, and mechanical systems to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration units and HVAC/R equipment. Diagnose electrical issues using tools such as ohmmeters and conduct electrical diagnostics to identify faults accurately. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems. Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems, boilers, air conditioning units, and building automation systems to ensure optimal performance. Repair or replace mechanical components such as compressors, fans, valves, pumps, and other equipment essential for refrigeration and HVAC operations. Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to perform precise equipment repairs while adhering to safety standards. Support system installation projects by assisting with HVAC system design considerations and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and logs for all repairs performed; communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding system status. Requirements Proven construction experience combined with service technician expertise in refrigeration or HVAC systems. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment troubleshooting and repair. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals accurately. Experience with HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair—especially in refrigeration environments such as cold storage facilities. Knowledge of electrical systems diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; familiarity with building automation systems is a plus. Familiarity with plumbing principles related to HVAC/R applications; experience working with boilers and ammonia refrigeration is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
