Job Overview Engineered Comfort is a design build mechanical contractor serving the high end residential market in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. We are looking for mechanically inclined technicians who are diligent in the repair, install, and maintenance of HVAC systems. We are looking for a service technician with a deep understanding of airflow, heat transfer, humidity, and the refrigeration cycle. Geothermal, variable speed, zoning, and hydronics are often solutions that we offer our customers for their homes; deep knowledge of these systems is not a requirement for hire, but a deep desire to understand them is. We are a small, family owned company and our workmanship is our only advertisement. As such, the majority of our service calls are for customers whose houses we helped build. There are no quotas to hit, there is no pressure to sell replacements - we continue to be busy because we lead with integrity and make decisions that are in the best interests of our clients. Duties Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and conduct electrical diagnostics for HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems. Repair or replace mechanical components such as motors, compressors, fans, pumps, valves, and piping to ensure system efficiency. Install new HVAC systems or upgrade existing equipment following schematics and HVAC design specifications. Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems including refrigerant lines and water supply connections. Use hand tools and welding equipment for equipment repair and mechanical systems repair tasks. Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all repairs and inspections accurately. Ensure compliance with safety standards including EPA regulations for refrigerants and proper handling of ammonia refrigeration systems. Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC equipment to support overall building operations. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system issues and solutions. Experience Proven experience as an HVAC service technician or in a similar field service role with construction experience preferred. Strong knowledge of HVAC system repair, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical systems diagnostics, refrigeration processes, and mechanical systems repair. Hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; experience with electrical diagnostics is essential. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in field service environments across multiple properties. Mechanical knowledge complemented by experience in plumbing, boiler operation, appliance repair, welding, and property maintenance is highly desirable. Valid driver's license (including driver if applicable) with a clean driving record for field service assignments. Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are required; additional certifications in HVAC/R or building automation systems are advantageous. Join us to be part of a passionate team dedicated to delivering reliable HVAC solutions! Your expertise will help create comfortable environments while advancing your career in a supportive and energetic workplace environment.
