Mechanical Engineer - industrial manufacturing

Job Description

Growing industrial manufacturer is looking for a mechanical engineer. The Mechanical Engineer will work under the direction of the Senior Engineering Manager to assist in the development of new and re-engineered products for the company. The role involves preparing engineering documentation for release to the production team and ensuring efficient production processes while maintaining compliance with industry standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of new and custom engineered products for the company. Create and modify CAD drawings and documentation packages for release to the manufacturing floor. Maintain and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and associated costing data. Write and optimize programs for automated manufacturing equipment. Review and improve current manufacturing processes, applying engineering techniques to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times. Assist in implementing process improvements using Lean manufacturing principles and conducting time-motion studies . Support compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and other applicable safety and building standards. Contribute to various engineering and manufacturing projects as requested by senior engineering staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) required. Proficiency with CAD software , particularly SolidWorks . Strong analytical skills with experience in design and drafting . Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) management and manufacturing costing. Experience or understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and practices. Familiarity with manufacturing tolerances and raw materials. Ability to write programs for automated manufacturing equipment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, CAD, etc.). Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in sheet metal fabrication is a plus. Knowledge of time-motion studies and industrial engineering techniques . Understanding of California labor laws and safety standards. Familiarity with automated manufacturing equipment and advanced manufacturing technologies .
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
