Summary:
As a team member, the Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs high-volume food manufacturing equipment. They prioritize personnel and food safety at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Must be able to operate and maintain all plant and facility support equipment, including but not limited to compressed air system, HVAC systems, Steam system, etc. All Electrical and Mechanical Troubleshooting. Must exceed all "Mechanic Level 1" Mechanical Qualification. Must ensure safe work practices (NFPA 70e, LOTO, etc.) Respond and react to mechanical and electrical issues in the production environment in a timely and efficient manner. Proficient knowledge at reading electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams to aid in troubleshooting. Keep a clean and organized work area. Complete maintenance projects - PM tasks and work orders as assigned. Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of machinery, equipment, and facilities in the building. Recognizes waste and recommends initiatives for elimination or reduction. Use the CMMS (SAP) to complete work orders, write corrective work orders, check out parts, etc. Diagnose problems, provide quick & innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in the facility. Written and oral communication of daily pass-down activities to other technicians and team lead. Maintain proper documentation of plant equipment Adheres to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards as well as HACCP compliance and other food safety and workplace safety initiatives. Follows attendance policy. Observes department call-in procedures. Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks. Maintains a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers. Exhibits teamwork and willingness to help others. Follows dress code and maintains a professional appearance. Can be relied upon to complete assigned tasks. Complies with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures. Works within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards. Required Experience and Skills Minimum 4 years work experience in a maintenance environment or equivalent education. Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment (Food industry is highly preferred). Must have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Must have a strong understanding of AC/DC motors, motor control circuits, and photoeyes / sensors, etc. Knowledge of conveyance a strong plus. Must be computer literate. Familiarity with CMMS work order systems Food manufacturing background a plus with an understanding of FDA requirements Must have good attention to detail. Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
