JOB SUMMARY

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, welding fabrication (MIG & TIG), Mill and Lathe experience, and machine shop equipment. Employees in this job design install, maintain, and repair mechanical process equipment and systems, as well as overall plant maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment related to the industrial processes and process piping. Moves and replaces machinery with forklifts, scissors, and aerial lifts. Fabricates, assembles, repairs, troubleshoots and tests parts as needed, such as various pumps, laboratory equipment, heaters, compressors, and other mechanical system parts using metal fabricating tools, common hand tools, mills, lathes, power tools, pipe threading machines, welding, and burning equipment, etc. Pipe fitting, including measuring and fitting of PVC and CPVC piping as well as threading and welding of carbon steel and stainless-steel piping. Welding certification is required. May requisition equipment, materials, and supplies. Performs related work as assigned. Provides training in the proper methods to carry out maintenance assignments. Inspects work to assure proper installation, maintenance, and repair of buildings and equipment. Requisitions and/or purchases supplies, materials, tools, machine parts, and other necessary equipment. Maintains records and prepares reports related to the work regarding equipment, supplies, and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the maintenance trades. Welding MIG and TIG is a must. Machine shop experience. (Milling Machine, Lathe, Plasma Cutter, Saws, Drill Press). Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building maintenance trades. Ability to do routine mechanical maintenance and care for tools and equipment. Ability to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints. Ability to maintain records regarding material, equipment, and repairs. Computer skills and good working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Some jobs require the employee to be exposed to toxic substances, heights, flammable fluids and corrosive materials, confined space and noise requiring work permits and proper personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees must be able to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods. Plus climb ladders, work in elevated spaces, and utilize lifting equipment, able to move heavy objects up to 50 lbs., and must have fine manual dexterity and good eyesight.

EDUCATION

Completed High School Diploma or equivalent. Welding Certification

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five years of experience working in skilled and mechanical trades, and welding. •This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent. Pay:

$33.37 - $37.82 per hour
